The Student Affairs Committee is looking forward to a summer that resembles some form of normality. Summertime is usually a calmer time for the committee as we refresh and recharge for the upcoming school year in September.
Reflecting on the last year, the members of this committee have organized events that have brought RT students from across the province together virtually. This includes the RT Week Respookatory Virtual Trivia Night and Launch Your Career: Insights from Experts Webinar. We are already planning some great events for the 2021/2022 school year.

We welcome new first year student representatives who joined the committee in January. Gino De Pinto is taking a professional development leave from Conestoga to finish his Master’s, and Jennifer Barton has stepped in. Thank you, Gino, and welcome, Jennifer! We would also like to thank Wendy Foote who has stepped away from her position as SAC Co-Chair, although we are lucky as Wendy will remain on as a committee member. Wendy has had an empowering impact on this committee over the last few years with her dedication and creativity. Thank you, Wendy!
Students Co-Chairs have been managing and running the SAC over the last year, completing two to three month periods, in pairs. This has allowed students to develop their leadership abilities and have an impact on the student portfolio. Congratulations and thank you to the following pairs: Jayde Thompson and Julia Chiarcos; Jarod Paul and Carissa Coghill; and Erica Mack and Hannah Erhardt. Well done!
Good luck to all GRTs who have just written the CBRC exam and are likely awaiting results. We’d also like to congratulate all third-year students who are currently heading into clinical placement (or starting shortly) – you’ve got this!
