The Student Affairs Committee (SAC) is currently in the process of selecting year one SAC representatives to round out the committee for the coming year.

The SAC organized a virtual Respookatory Trivia Night during RT Week 2020. This was a great success, with 16 teams of students from schools with Respiratory Therapy programs across the province participating in some competition and celebration of the profession.  The committee would like to thank our sponsors: AstraZeneca, McArthur Medical Sales Inc., Novus Medical, and ProResp. The SAC also challenged Ontario colleges with RT programs to decorate a door or wall to promote the profession and post on social media during RT Week. All doors turned out fantastic. Overall, RT Week was a success!

The members of the SAC joined in a meeting via Zoom in November that was led by the outgoing student Co-Chairs, Erica Mack and Hannah Erhardt. Discussion of our RT Week activities and feedback from the members was received on how we can improve for next year.

With the arrival of a new term comes a handover of the student Co-Chair role to two new students. Carissa Coghill from St. Clair and Jarod Paul from Michener will be working with Greg Donde and Wendy Foote to prepare reports for RTSO Airwaves, set up agendas for upcoming SAC meetings, and brainstorm some new initiatives for the upcoming year.

Thank you to all the SAC members for the continued commitment. We are looking forward to adding new first years’ to the committee to encourage students to participate and demonstrate firsthand the importance of engagement in and advocacy for our profession.
