Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Regulated Health Professional with Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE)

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)/Regulated Health Professional with Certified Respiratory Educator designation (RHP CRE) is responsible for assessing and delivering clinical services to community-based lung health clients and providing training and support to community-based health care providers for the delivery of best practices and standardized tools and pathways related to COPD and other chronic lung illnesses. The RRT/CRE works with the Hastings Prince Edward (HPE) Ontario Health Team (OHT) Lung Health Program – a community-based multi-partner initiative aimed to promote best practices and clinical pathways related to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and self-management of individuals with COPD, asthma, and other chronic lung disease living in the HPE region.
Responsibilities Include:
- Clinical assessments, spirometry testing, education/counselling in multiple primary care organizations;
- Consults with, educates and makes treatment and therapeutic recommendations to primary care providers and other primary care staff in accordance with best practice guidelines;
- Supporting the growth and use of pulmonary rehab, peer support education, and client self-management action plans; and
- Working collaboratively with the Lung Health Action Team, community members, network partners, specialists, and potential partners.

Qualifications:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist, Certified Respiratory Educator designation preferred; or
- Regulated Health Professional with Certified Respiratory Educator
- Recent clinical RRT/RHP CRE experience
- Experience with multidisciplinary teams
- Spirometry testing competency
- Valid driver’s licence, reliable and insured vehicle, willingness to travel within HPE
- Proficient computer skills in MS Office applications
- Excellent communication and time management
- Knowledge of related local community partners and resources is preferred
- Experience in a community setting
- Experience with electronic medical records
