Greetings, friends!
Over the past several months, the RTSO Leadership Committee (LC) has begun to resume more normal operations. The committee has recognized that over the past year, RT departments across Ontario have been required to pivot quickly, often implementing new or updating current policies and procedures to ensure that the best evidence-based practice is being utilized. Having acknowledged this need, the Leadership Committee has made it a priority to compile and disseminate a variety of resources to aid RT departments in updating their internal and corporate policies and procedures. The first resource of the series developed was a Proning Guidelines document. The information contained in the document is a compilation of policies and procedures from a range of hospitals in Ontario, as well as from journals and the Intensive Care Society. This resource has recently been emailed to RTSO membership and can also be found on the RTSO website.
The Leadership Committee has continued to go through changes over the past couple of months as several members have handed in their resignations. As the LC Chair, I wish to personally thank Tony Kajnar, Ginny Myles and Susan Boisvert for their dedication and service to the committee — your commitment and efforts have been greatly appreciated by the committee, membership at large, and the RTSO Board of Directors.
In conjunction with the Board of Directors, the RTSO Leadership Committee has also made the difficult decision to cancel the Leadership Summit Conference for 2021. Stay tuned for details regarding 2022!
As always, we thank all Ontario Respiratory Therapists for all that you do for your patients and peers. Your dedication to provide the best care possible is inspiring, not only to your peers but to other healthcare professionals as well. The RTSO Leadership Committee is honoured to support you in your practice.
If you have any questions, comments or would like to join an RTSO committee, please email office@rtso.ca.
Best wishes,
Cam Streicher, RRT
