RTSO Board of Directors Treasurer

Job description

The RTSO Treasurer plays a vital role in overseeing the organization’s financial management and ensuring financial stability. This position requires strong financial literacy, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with bookkeepers, accountants, and executive team members on budgetary matters.

Skills Required:

  • Financial literacy and attention to detail
  • Timeliness in completing tasks
  • Ability to communicate with bookkeepers, accountants, and executive members on budgeting issues
  • Willingness to ask questions and engage in discussions
  • Term: The position is for a 2-year term, renewable for up to two terms (maximum of 6 years).

Time Commitment:

Meetings: Prepare documents and attend monthly Board and Executive meetings (3–12 hours/month).

Events: Participate in the Annual General Meeting, the annual educational conference and other events as necessary

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the financial management and reporting of the RTSO’s finances.
  • Serve as a signing authority for the organization.
  • Facilitate the preparation of the annual budget and monitor actual revenues/expenses against it.
  • Work with the contracted bookkeeping service and accountants to ensure timely tax submissions.
  • Pay expenses upon receipt of documentation and monitor income deposits.
  • Ensure Board insurance is maintained annually.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
  • Declare conflicts of interest, if any, and support RTSO’s vision and mission.
