Full-Time Professor – Respiratory Therapy

Algonquin College’s Respiratory Therapy Program is seeking a passionate and dedicated Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our faculty team as a Full-Time Professor. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the next generation of RTs through high-quality teaching, mentorship, and innovation.

Position: Full-Time Professor, Respiratory Therapy

Location: Ottawa, Ontario

Start Date (anticipated): Winter 2026

Salary Range: $77,153 – $133,752 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience)

About the Role

  • Design, develop, and deliver courses for the Respiratory Therapy program — including theory, lab, and simulation-based instruction.
  • Update and revise curriculum in collaboration with program administrators, faculty, advisory committees, and clinical partners.
  • Define and assess learning outcomes, and use educational technologies to deliver engaging, effective instruction.
  • Provide academic advising and support to students, including tutoring and mentorship, fostering a positive, inclusive environment for learning.
  • Participate in curriculum & committee work, program promotion, continuous quality improvement, and remain current with best practices and emerging trends in respiratory therapy and education.

Qualifications

  • Registered with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (with no restrictions) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences or related field of study. Graduate degree an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent work experience as a respiratory therapist in a health care environment
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience including preceptorship experience, preferably in a post-secondary setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student success strategies in a post-secondary setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of educational technologies; experience in the development and delivery of hybrid and online curriculum is considered an asset
  • Highly effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated skill in Algonquin College’s preferred teaching competencies as set out in the Professor of the 21st Century document.
