The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) is sharing updates related to the OHIP+ program. We know RRTs make a difference in our patients care and outcomes and anticipate this information will improve patients care and empower RRT engagement in health system integration and change!

2.5 million claims have been paid since OHIP+ was initiated January 1, 2018. Read about special updates related to Exceptional Access Program, the Limited Use Program, the Temporary Facilitated Access Mechanism (Rheumatology), Valved Holding Chambers and the 30 Day Prescription Program through the Update link.

As part of Budget 2017, the government announced its intention to create and implement “OHIP+: Children and Youth Pharmacare” (OHIP+) by January 1, 2018. OHIP+ would provide universal drug coverage to approximately 4.1 million children and youth across Ontario aged 24 and under. Transition was the first step – the transformation phase starts now. The cultural shift toward a more local approach begins at the sub-region level, where LHINs, local health care providers and patient and family advisory councils can partner together to identify and plan for integrated service delivery that will meet specific local needs. On June 21, 2017, Erie St. Clair CCAC, North West CCAC, and Central East CCAC successfully transferred to their respective LHINs. These are the final CCACs to complete their transition to LHINs. On June 7, 2017, Toronto Central CCAC and Central CCAC (Kim Baker, CEO, former RRT) successfully transferred to their respective LHINs. Also, this year marked the 18th year of the “Achieving Excellence Together” conference. This conference brings together health and home care professionals, leaders, care coordinators, service providers, and front-line staff to share innovative ideas and approaches and best practices. This two-day conference provides an opportunity to demonstrate the complex and multifaceted home and community care sector.

On June 7, 2017, Toronto Central CCAC and Central CCAC successfully transferred to their respective LHINs. Transition experiences are shared. On May 31, 2017, Mississauga Halton CCAC, Central West CCAC, and North East CCAC successfully transferred to their respective LHINs. Over the past 12 months the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) has completed more than 100 appointments to the Boards of the 14 Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs); including nearly 70 new appointments in order to ensure that LHIN boards are reflective of the communities they serve. On May 3rd, 2017, North Simcoe Muskoka (NSM) Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) successfully transitioned into NSM Local Health Integration Network (LHIN); the first of fourteen (14) CCAC-to-LHIN transfers. To strengthen local partnerships, each of the 14 LHINs and CCACs has appointed a local transition lead to be the conduit of information and agents of change for their region. These individuals have been working throughout the transition process to address any concerns.
