The RTSO is creating a video to increase public awareness of our profession and show our gratitude for all the support we have received from the community. We need your help!
Lisa Wilson has created the wording below and we are calling on our members to help us capture the footage. Video footage and photos of donations, RTs saying any of the lines below, equipment and anything else RT-related would be most appreciated. Please take a look at the instructions and submit your recordings using the consent form.
- We are Respiratory Therapists.
- I am not a Doctor.
- I am not a Nurse.
- I AM part of the frontline Healthcare Team.
- I help save the lives of critically ill patients.
- I am by your side when the breathing tube goes in and when it comes out.
- I will breathe for you when you can’t breathe for yourself.
- Whether it’s your first breath or your last.
- I use my expertise to do that safely to protect patients lungs from more damage.
- I help to keep my patients and my Colleagues safe by making sure that the breathing tube doesn’t accidentally come out when caring for patients.
- I am scared.
- I have a family that I don’t want to leave behind if I get sick from COVID-19.
- Or worse, I am scared that I might bring the virus home and risk the lives of my loved ones.
- I just wanted to say thank you.
- Thank you for taking this seriously.
- Thank you for practicing social distancing.
- Thank you for washing your hands.
- Thank you to the creators, crocheters and mad sewers.
- Thank you to the companies who have stepped up to make the equipment we need to save lives and to help keep us safe.
- Thank you to the volunteers who are making food and offering childcare.
- Thank you for all those who have donated to their local hospital.
- Thank you to both businesses and individuals, every bit helps.
- Thank you for your kind words and support.
- We do what we do for you.
Filming instructions:
- Make sure the camera is set to full HD video (1080). Some newer iphones can also shoot in higher resolutions like 4K but those files will be hard to wrangle so let’s try and keep everything at 1080 if possible.
- If you can get a hold of a tripod with a phone holder on it, that would be amazing, but otherwise do your best to be a “human tripod”. Control breathing, brace your body/arms against something if possible, etc.
- Try and pick a quiet environment or a quiet time, as background noise and audio quality is going to be a big challenge for this video.
- Get the actors to speak as clearly and loudly as they can without sounding like they’re yelling.
- Shoot in landscape mode! Don’t hold the phone vertically, that will make clips that are very hard to work with.
