Respiratory Therapist
Full-Time, Part-Time, and Casual Opportunities – Brockville, ON

If you have the expertise and confidence not only to provide direct patient care, but also to act as a clinical expert related to Respiratory Therapy practice, Brockville General Hospital (BGH) is a great place to lead by example in maintaining a high standard of care.

Working under the supervision of the Manager of Emergency/ICU, and as a member of the critical care services team, you will provide care as established by the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario and the standards of respiratory care of this hospital. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be expected to participate in service and hospital-wide activities and programs that model and promote a safe, healthy patient-centred environment and that contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS

To be considered for the role of Respiratory Therapist, you must thrive in a patient-centred environment and possess:

  • Successful completion of a recognized post-secondary Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Membership in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario.
  • Behaviour consistent with the Hospital Mission, Values and Standards of Performance.
  • Knowledge of department, hospital and professional standards and relevant legislation, including Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA) and Respiratory Therapy Act (RTA).
  • Ability to maintain personal education objectives relevant to the practice and professional portfolio.
  • Ability to collaborate with inter-professional team members to identify educational programs for staff and other health care professionals.
  • Ability to be recognized as a clinical expert, actively participating in the education of physicians, nurses and other inter-professional team members related to Respiratory Therapy practice, policies and specialty interventions.
  • Ability to participate in team rounds, committees, staff education and clinical care meetings, acting as a resource for the team, when needed.
  • Ability to provide education to patients, students and staff, e.g., individual/group teaching.
  • Ability to influence/contribute to patient care through presentations/publications, acting as a role model and assisting others to maintain a high standard of care.
  • Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment.
  • Ability to identify areas where opportunity for improvement exists within the department and the hospital.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to maintain good attendance and availability.
