The Respiratory Therapy Society of Ontario (RTSO) Research Interest Group is seeking abstracts for the Inspire Conference’s Poster Competition 2021. We are looking forward to receiving abstracts for posters that present research work in respiratory care by respiratory therapists; this may include quality improvement trials, prospective/ retrospective studies, case studies, literature reviews and systematic reviews. We encourage ALL respiratory therapists to participate in this opportunity (students, graduates and practicing members).

Instructions for submission:

  • All submitters must have RTSO Membership

  • Abstracts are limited to 500 words

  • Abstracts must be in either docx, doc, pdf, txt format

  • Abstracts must be submitted to office@rtso.ca with the Subject heading: POSTER COMPETITION 2021- FIRST INITIAL WITH LAST NAME e.g. POSTER COMPETITION 2021 _JDOE

  • Abstracts must be submitted by September 3rd, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. by the presenting author

Please ensure the following information is outlined in your submission document:

  • presenting author’s full name, affiliation, and email address*

  • name of all co-authors and their affiliations, along with disclosure of conflict of interests

  • abstract title

  • abstract text (limited to 500 words) with the following sections (where applicable): background; objective(s); methods; results; discussion; conclusion, references

*presenting (first) author must be a respiratory therapist (student, graduate or registered); though we welcome co-authors from all disciplines.

By submitting your abstract, you acknowledge and grant permission for your abstract to be published on the RTSO website and Airwaves (newsletter).

Accepted abstracts for poster presentations will be announced by September 7th, 2021. At that time, you will receive information on how to prepare for your poster and audio recording on Microsoft Powerpoint. You will be required to submit your final poster and recording by October 15th, 2021. Your final poster will be made available on the RTSO website.

The winning poster will be announced at the end of Respiratory Therapy Week. They will receive a Certificate and a monetary prize. The winner of the poster competition will receive a monetary prize of $250 and the runner-up will receive $100.
