Introducing Greg Donde, Co-Chair, RTSO Student Affairs Committee
Here is a bit about Greg, from Greg himself:
I found the Respiratory Therapy profession by complete luck as I picked a program that sounded interesting. It was the right choice as being an RT has led to a joyful, interesting, and stimulating career. I graduated from the Respiratory Therapy Program at Fanshawe College in 2006. After graduating, I worked in adult critical care and in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in London. I then went on to spend several years working on the Neonatal Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC). I continue to work casually at McMaster Children’s Hospital in the NICU.
While working clinically, I completed my Bachelor of Health Science online from Thompson Rivers University and followed that with a Masters of Science Respiratory Care Leadership from Northeastern University in the U.S. I started teaching part-time in the Respiratory Therapy Program after graduation, and recently moved into a full-time professor role. I have been an NRP and PALS instructor for a number of years and am a member of the Canadian Pediatric Society’s Neonatal Resuscitation, Executive, and Education Committee. These committees oversee the Neonatal Resuscitation Program across Canada.
I believe that learning occurs while students are engaged in practical, hands on application, and simulation. Students are the future of the profession and bring fresh energy and enthusiasm. I learn just as much from them as they hopefully learn from me. I look forward to working together with the Student Affairs Committee Co-Chair, Wendy Foote and the student and faculty members from the RT schools across Ontario.
Thank you, Gino De Pinto, for all of your work. You leave gigantic lungs to fill!
