Respiratory Therapy Week was a success at Fanshawe College this year! Despite finishing midterm exams during RT Week, students made the most of the time that we were able to dedicate to promoting our profession around campus!
Our information booths in the main hallways of the school were very well received, with opportunities for first and second year RT students to get involved and help out. We had intubation demonstrations, pig lungs, and a variety of respiratory equipment for people to see and hear about. It was a lot of fun helping other Fanshawe students try intubating for the first time, and answering questions about what exactly a respiratory therapist does in the community. It quickly became apparent that the booths were useful, particularly to Pre-Health Science students from the college, who are in the process of deciding next steps for future program applications.
We concluded our RT Week celebrations with a potluck lunch, with some third year students returning from their clinical placement time to reunite with faculty and friends.
We are already looking forward to RT Week 2020!
